About MK

Meet Grand Master Barber MK

Learn from someone who understands the realities of professional barbering and production work — because he has actually worked across these environments.

Mucktaru "Grand Master Barber MK" Kargbo

Thirty years of hands-on craft

Mucktaru “Grand Master Barber MK” Kargbo is a Hall of Fame Master Barber with more than 30 years of hands-on experience. That experience spans television and film, salon environments, stage productions, education and international brand campaigns.

MK works across both Afro and European hair, and teaches barbering and grooming from a practical standpoint rather than an academic one. Afro Elevation Collective exists to pass that knowledge on: precision, texture understanding and the confidence to deliver consistently, whatever the setting.

Training is deliberately small in group size so tuition stays personal, and it is shaped around the specific skills a professional or department needs.

MK's professional journey

Built in the chair, not the classroom

More than three decades cutting, shaping and finishing hair — from salon floors and stage productions to television, film and international brand campaigns. Every technique MK teaches has already had to work under real pressure, in front of a client, an audience or a camera.

Why he teaches

Closing a gap he kept seeing

Too many skilled professionals hesitate the moment texture changes or continuity is on the line. Afro Elevation Collective exists to remove that hesitation — so confidence with Afro and European hair becomes routine rather than something to work around.

His approach to training

Hands on hair, from the first hour

Diagnose before technique

Training starts with what you actually struggle with, not a fixed syllabus.

Demonstrate, then supervise

You watch the technique performed, then repeat it with MK correcting in real time.

Small groups only

Numbers stay low so feedback is personal and time on the tools stays high.

Judged on the result

Success is measured by what you can repeat on set or in the chair afterwards.

Afro + European hair expertise

Two texture families, one standard of precision

Density, curl pattern, growth direction and shrinkage all change how a shape holds. MK teaches how to read the hair in front of you and adjust technique, tension and product accordingly — so the result is consistent whichever chair you are working in.
